Southern Yellow Pine Wood

Yellow pine is a term used in ecology and forestry to describe a group of coniferous trees that grow in similar plant groups and produce comparable strong wood. Southern Yellow Pine Wood refer to any of the natural species found in the Southern United States, including loblolly, longleaf, shortleaf, and slash pines. The acidic red clay soil that dominates most of the region is ideal for these yellow pines. When pressure treated, the wood from southern yellow pines generally has a density of 50 to 55 lb/cu ft.
